Dear member,
RNAO is working hard to monitor the latest on the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and will keep you informed as new updates come in.
Today, Ontario health officials confirmed its second “presumptive” case of 2019-nCoV in Toronto, Canada. It was confirmed that the wife of the province’s first case had tested positive for the virus at Ontario’s public health laboratory. The first case was reported on Jan. 25 and the patient is currently being treated at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
RNAO is fully engaged with Ontario’s Ministry of Health (MOH) about developments related to 2019-nCoV and is participating in daily ministry calls to support all efforts to deal with the virus as well as ensure nurses and nursing students are kept up to date.
As always, nurses are unwavering in their commitment and expertise to serve the public. We also know that we must protect health-care professionals so you can care for the public. With agreement from the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) with MOH, we will be sharing on a daily basis “Situation Reports”. Here is report #1 issued Jan. 25 and report #2 issued Jan. 26 (A friendly reminder, you must be logged into your myRNAO account to access these reports). Tomorrow, you will receive report #3, which is released later this evening.
These are intended for health professionals only, to give you the information you need to keep you up to date. Please note that these situation reports are not meant for the general public. As an RNAO member, should you have any questions, you can direct them to Marion Zych at mzych@RNAO.ca.
Sincerely,
RNAO
