Application for Oral Health Best Practice Guideline Expert Panel

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is developing a new edition of the best practice guidelines (BPG) on the topic of oral health, starting in October 2017. This BPG will replace the first edition, Oral Health: Nursing Assessment and Intervention: http://rnao.ca/bpg/guidelines/oral-health-nursing-assessment-and-interve...

We are seeking individuals to join an expert panel. Panel members must meet the following criteria:

  • Expertise on the topic of oral health
  • Represent one of the following categories: clinician (registered nurses and other health-care providers), educator/researcher, student, policy, persons with lived experience
  • Interested in active contribution to an evidence-based best practice guideline

The panel member position is a voluntary position and requires participation for a period of approximately 12 - 15 months. More specifically, panel members commit to:

  • attending 2- 3 face-to-face meetings at the RNAO office in Toronto (expenses covered by RNAO as per policy),
  • participating in up to 5 teleconferences with the entire panel,
  • reviewing the research findings,
  • participating in voting on guideline content,
  • providing input and feedback on various drafts of the guideline throughout the guideline development process, and
  • supporting dissemination of the best practice guideline once it has been completed.

Once we receive expressions of interest through this online form, RNAO will proceed with the selection of the panel. All of RNAO’s guideline panels are developed in keeping with our policy of maintaining a broad representation of experts that include varied geography, health-care sectors and perspectives. Decisions about the panel composition will be made by mid September 2017. Selected panel members will be provided with a detailed timeline of meetings and activities and asked to submit a letter of organizational support (if applicable) and a conflict of interest form.

Please feel free to contact Verity White, Project Coordinator (vwhite@RNAO.ca) if you have questions or are interested in the opportunity but unable to meet the submission deadline.
