Kathleen Pikaart
Kathleen is a registered nurse with diverse healthcare background and experience. Kathleen graduated from the nursing program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) in 2017. Kathleen currently works as a nurse in the acute care and community sectors, and sees the challenges from our fragmented and strained healthcare system, and opportunities for transformational improvements that will better serve patients. Kathleen’s approach to care is rooted on a foundation of evidence-based practice, being patient-centred, and viewing health and wellbeing from a holistic lens.
Kathleen has been an active and dedicated member with the local chapter and served in numerous roles including chapter president, policy & political action, and student liaison. She has led collaborative events with other chapters and interest groups, and promotes RNAO membership and involvement to colleagues. Kathleen has also been chair of the provincial resolutions committee and a presenter during several assembly meetings and guest speaker webinars.
Kathleen has a strong passion for helping others and wanting to influence change, which has translated to a keen interest in advocacy, health policy, and political engagement. She has met with many politicians to discuss issues impacting nursing, healthcare, and social determinants of health. Kathleen is also drawn to promoting collaborative leadership within the nursing profession and recognizing the value and contribution that each nurse brings.
Kathleen is eager to continue involvement with RNAO and its members of RNs, NPs, and nursing students and would be honoured to serve as Region 8 board representative for another term
