RN, MN

It is with great joy that I put my name forward for MAL Socio-political  Affairs.  I have had the privilege of being actively involved with RNAO for the last 23 years. In addition to a number of interest groups and my local chapter activities, I served on the board of directors from 2007-2011 as Regional Representative for Region 8 and then in the President role from 2011 (as President-Elect) to 2015 (as Immediate Past President). I have had the pleasure to represent RNAO and the nurses of Ontario provincially, nationally and internationally.

In my years of RNAO involvement I have appreciated the role that nurses can and do play in influencing health and environmental policies and directions. I have also learned much about the influence that RNAO carries in government decision-making on policies rated to health and social determinants of health, in particular. It is because of my experiences and awareness of how nurses shape policy and direction that I decided to put my name forward for this MAL position.

I believe my past experience and my involvement over the years in the voice for and of nurses means I am well positioned to take on this role and do the nurses of Ontario proud.
