Name:
Connie Wootten
Credentials:
RN, CVAA(C)

I am a nursing graduate from Humber College (1987) and have completed the critical care certificate program at Ryerson University in 1988. Recently, I have completed my CVAA certification for infusion therapy, as well as AVA and INS certifications for the same. Employed by St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto for the past 29 years, I maintain my clinical critical-care skills at the bedside in the ICU. I have worked as a clinical instructor for George Brown College's critical care certificate course. At present, I am currently employed full time with BD Canada as a clinical specialist, and subject matter expert for infusion and injection therapy.

I have extensive committee and group experience which includes: CAWC Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program Implementation Group, St. Joseph’s Health Centre; RNAO Nursing Best Practice Champion Workshop Level 1; participant, RNAO Project Management Workshop; attended RNAO AGM, 2012, 2013, 2014; RNAO Resolutions Committee Member 2013-14; practitioner during the BD International Volunteer Service Trip to Haiti, 2012 and Peru 2014. I currently hold memberships with RNAO, CVAA, AVA, and INS, where I bring evidence forward in my every day practice, and share with others to influence best practice across Canada.

As a practising registered nurse working in the critical-care environment, and a clinical specialist for BD, a world-reaching organization, I represent the ideal candidate for this role. I have a unique understanding of health care, and advocate for the voices of the: front-line nurse, the patients, hospital and the community. My passion is evidence-based practice, and I have actively worked to support best practice in both wound care and infusion therapy within my institution, and throughout other Ontario health-care sectors.

As a passionate and effective leader, I can support RNAO by bringing awareness of current and relevant issues to my colleagues and peers, and rally support for positive change within our region and province through open communication and collaboration with the membership.
I actively support and raise awareness of RNAO as a professional organization, and know that with my knowledge, skill set, and supported by my passion for nursing, I would be an ideal RN candidate for the Provincial Resolutions Committee.
