RN, BScN

Jennifer is a public health nurse, and has been employed at Algoma Public Health since 2009. During her career as a public health nurse, she has practised in both rural and small urban sites, and has experience in various public-health programs. Currently, her areas of focus include maternal, child and family health, as well as tobacco cessation. Jennifer has also worked part time as a faculty advisor for fourth-year BScN students.

Jennifer is passionate about healthy work environments, quality nursing education, and advocating the important role nurses maintain in the health-care system. Her work in health promotion recognizes the impact the determinants of health have on the health of our communities, and she strives to educate and advocate for health equity.

Jennifer graduated with a BScN in 2009 from Laurentian University (Sudbury) and is currently completing her MN from Charles Sturt University (Australia) with an expected graduation date of June 2015.

Jennifer’s involvement in RNAO began as student in the BScN program. In 2011, she was elected onto the RNAO Algoma chapter executive as treasurer. She maintained this position until 2014, at which time she was elected to the position of political action and policy officer, a title she continues to hold.

As a regional representative, representing Nipissing, Kirkland Lake-Temiskaming, Sudbury and District, Algoma and Porcupine chapters, Jennifer plans to help support and address members’ local issues, as well as the broader issues facing the nursing profession.
