Ashley holds a BScN from University of Western Ontario and a MScN from McMaster University. Ashley has a clinical background in psychiatry, including formalized training in cognitive behavioural therapy. Since fall 2019, Ashley has been teaching with McMaster University, where she holds a clinical appointment. Ashley is also a professor of nursing at Mohawk College School of Health & Community Services. Ashley launched a volunteer organization as a social entrepreneurship project that is informed by cognitive behavioural therapy and equine therapy to promote resilience in kids (funded through the Government of Canada). Ashley is passionate about mental wellness promotion and strength-based assessments. During her time as a policy and political action nurse, Ashley has been meeting with MPPs and MPs to discuss nursing issues. Ashley has been maximizing opportunities to be a delegate at pre-budget consultations two years in a row to advocate on behalf of the nursing profession.
