I have been a proud RNAO member since 2003, having been sponsored by the Gerontological Nurses Association Ontario (GNAO) while a student at McMaster University. Since completing my bachelor of science in nursing (2004) and master of science in nursing (2019), I have pursued my passion to care for older adults in several clinical and leadership roles. I began my career working in long-term care. This experience deepened my commitment to lead collaboratively, using the strengths and wisdom of the team to achieve success. Next, I moved to a pilot project in an adult day service. This project allowed me to network with community partners to develop a program to meet the needs of older adults recently discharged from hospital. In 2010, I began my current role as a nurse clinician in geriatrics at Niagara Health, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop care plans which reflect gerontological standards of practice and patients’ goals.

Interest groups (IG) have been a crucial part of my RNAO experience and I have proudly served on the RNAO board of directors (BOD) as the Interest Group Chairs representative since 2019. Prior to this, I was actively involved with GNAO, serving most recently as past-president (2018-2019). I am also a member of the Clinical Nurse Specialist Association of Ontario (CNS-ON).

In my work with the RNAO BOD and in my practice, I strive to recognize and honour the passion of nurses. I believe harnessing this passion and powering nursing expertise is key to achieving health for all.
