Diabetes in African Canadian Populations: Preliminary Findings from a Scoping Review

DNIG will be hosting an interactive webinar led by Damilola Iduye, PhD candidate, who will discuss her preliminary research findings with respect to diabetes in African Canadians.

Damilola Iduye is a senior instructor at the Dalhousie School of Nursing, where she primarily teaches population health nursing and nursing and social responsibility.  She is also a second-year PhD student at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. As a 2023 Vanier Scholar and C. David Naylor Fellow at the University of Toronto, her doctoral research lies at the intersection of race and ethnicity, structural racism, public policies, immigration and citizenship status, and health. Specifically, she focuses on exploring how social structural determinants of health shape the experience of Black Canadians with type 2 diabetes using intersectionality theory.
