Kelly Booth
Credentials:
RN, BScN, CNeph(c)

I was born and raised in Durham Region where I continue to live and work as a Registered Nurse at Lakeridge Health Corporation since 1997. I have been working in the Regional Nephrology Program for the past 10 years with previous experience in the emergency department and intensive care unit.

I have an RN diploma from Durham College and I have recently graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors. I have also obtained my certification in nephrology through the Canadian Nurses Association within the last year and I am currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Nursing. In addition to this, I am a proud member of the Honor Society of Nursing.

I believe it is important to continually evolve professionally by staying current with nursing issues and practices. This is demonstrated by my returning to school 15 years into my career and obtaining my nursing degree. I also think it is paramount that new nurses receive appropriate guidance and mentoring not only for providing optimal patient care, but also for maintaining their sense of wellbeing and emotional wellness. I strive to be an excellent role model and promote a positive image of nursing. I am dedicated to mentoring new staff and I am inspired to precept nurses to our unit.

Given the opportunity to work in the Nursing Education position on the Board of Directors, I will aspire to foster strong relationships between the educational organizations, nurses and their employers by facilitating learning opportunities and advocate for continued education for nurses.
