Alicia Moonesar

Alicia is a nurse practitioner in the Nephrology Program at Humber River Hospital. She concurrently works with Ontario’s Emergency Medical Assistance Team (EMAT), providing primary health care to diverse communities. Alicia graduated from Centennial College with a diploma in nursing in 2004, and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Ryerson University in 2007. She obtained her Master's of Science in Nursing degree in 2009 from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. In 2014, she completed the Nurse Practitioner - Primary Health Care Certificate Program at McMaster University, and she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Walden University.

Her distinctive passion and interests are in the areas of nursing leadership, expansion of safe practice settings, and quality of work life environments, with a distinct focus on excellence and safety in patient care. Her 15 years of nursing experience includes progressive senior nursing management/leadership roles, nursing research/education, and staff positions in the acute, outpatient, and primary care sectors. Alicia also holds clinical appointments with the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto as an adjunct lecturer. She currently serves on RNAO’s Provincial Nominations Committee, and is the membership executive network officer (ENO) for RNAO’s Nurse Practitioner Interest Group. Alicia is a well-known and highly respected leader interested in serving as a board representative for Region 6. Her aspirations are to advance the nursing profession and continue to advocate for healthy public policies on issues related to nursing and health care.
