In my first term as Region 4 board representative, I have had opportunities to represent RNAO by speaking out on emerging issues and advancing the role and image of nurses. I provided opening remarks on health at an all-candidates town hall meeting during the federal election campaign, completed interviews about RNAO’s fall tour with media, and participated in a nursing round table with politicians around health-care transformation.

I joined RNAO as a student and never looked back. As an avid volunteer with RNAO, I am very passionate about speaking out for nursing and health. I was also a past president and communications executive network officer (ENO) for Peel Chapter. My core nursing philosophy is around social determinants of health and health promotion through the incorporation of values of public health and prevention. I have a keen interest in risk management, social determinants of health, public health and health policy.

I have been a nurse since 2007 in the hospital setting, public health and community health. I have a BScN from York University, a BA in Political Science from McMaster University, and an MPH in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto. I am in the process of completing my Canadian Risk Management designation. My current role is with Toronto Community Housing Corporation as a manager in risk and insurance.
