As nurses, we all too often experience violence on the job. Just about every nurse has either been a victim or seen a co-worker victimized. And if we are going to change this unfortunate reality of our profession, it's important to speak out. Tomorrow, August 11 at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. EST, RNAO's CEO Doris Grinspun will appear on CBC Radio to discuss violence against nurses. She will share her own experiences, and those of countless nurses in all sectors of our health system. But this is also an opportunity for you to use your voice to bring about change. If you wish to share your story about violence in the workplace with CBC Radio, on or off the air, you can call producer Margot Wright at 613-288-6506. For those wishing to speak on the radio, the studio phone lines open at 12 p.m. EST tomorrow and will be open throughout the program. Callers have the option of remaining anonymous if they wish. No one should have to face the threat of violence on the job. Together, we can make our workplaces safer for everyone. For more information about tomorrow's program, visit www.cbc.ca/ontariotoday. You can also read more about recent instances of violence against nurses in the news stories below.
