Partnership impact

On April 25, 2024, RNAO welcomed 17 new health organizations to its world-renowned, ever-growing BPSO program. Nine LTC homes are among those joining the program. This year also marks the 10-year anniversary of BPSO program that specializes in LTC.

Ontario LTC homes have the opportunity to join an international community dedicated to making a positive impact on resident care through evidence based-practice. RNAO is pleased to announce the release of the twelfth request-for-proposal for eligible LTC homes interested in becoming a BPSO.

By implementing Preventing Falls and
Reducing Injury From Falls best practice guideline (BPG), Burton Manor underwent a significant transformation to reduce falls and mitigate fall-related injuries, thus establishing Burton Manor as a “Least Restraint Home”.

50% ⬆ of residents with documented screening for pain after one year of implementation

As part of their quality improvement initiative, Holland Christian Homes has implemented RNAO’s Assessment and Management of Pain BPG at two of their homes to address gaps in assessing and managing pain and reduce the incidence of worsening pain among their residents.

Moving into a LTC home can be a very overwhelming process for the resident and the people in their support network. By implementing an admission process that is person and family centred, the home can capture a comprehensive, holistic picture of who the new admission is prior to their arrival.
