Background
The provision of nursing care is rewarding and challenging. Taking care of ourselves is intrinsically related to caring for others. The regular practice of mindfulness can enrich our lives with enhanced calm, insight, emotional intelligence, and productivity. Mindfulness practices are useful in addressing stress, illness, and pain. Mindfulness strategies, practiced on a regular basis, contribute to personal resilience and enhance the characteristics of clarity, concentration, and equanimity.

With focus on health and wellness for nurses, this one-hour session will provide
•Evidenced-based information on the benefits of mindfulness practices for personal wellbeing and professional development
• Teacher-led mindfulness-based intervention practices conducive to self-care (experiential learning)
• Opportunity for discussion and update of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) offerings
