Ontario Correctional Nurses Interest Group is pleased to present Cindy Peternej-Taylor who will be speaking about her research about Correctional Nurses and Evidence-Informed Practices in Correctional Nursing. A short bio is found below.

BIO: Cindy Peternelj-Taylor RN, MSc, PhD(c), DF-IAFN is a Professor of Nursing, at the University of Saskatchewan.  Her research and scholarship focuses on professional role development for nurses and healthcare professionals who work with vulnerable populations in forensic mental health and correctional settings, with particular emphasis on clinical and ethical issues that emerge from practice (palliative care, boundary violations, whistleblowing, Othering).  She is particularly interested in trauma-informed care, and how it can be implemented when working with persons seeking health care at the crossroads of the health care system and the criminal justice system.  Her publications can be found in a number of peer reviewed journals and books.  She is a Distinguished Fellow with the International Association of Forensic Nurses, and the Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Forensic Nursing.

On a more personal note, she has been married for 37 years, has three adult children, three granddaughters, and an aging Boarder Collie.
