Health System Transformation — Decriminalization of simple drug possession: Saving lives now!

Registration is closed for this event

Decriminalization of simple drug possession is part of a multi-pronged harm reduction approach to address the opioid crisis and toxic drug supply in Ontario.

In 2021, preliminary data from Public Health Ontario reported an average of eight people per day died from an opioid-related overdose across the province – an alarming 85 per cent increase over pre-pandemic levels. People are losing their lives needlessly, leaving their families and communities in anguish.

Join a panel discussion on Monday, Oct. 17 to get informed and learn how you can join RNAO’s action on this important public health crisis and influence change during municipal elections in Ontario.

Topics include:

  • personal stories of substance use
  • decriminalization of “simple drug possession”: What does it mean?
  • rationale and evidence behind decriminalization and harm reduction
  • questions and answers

We will also cover ways to take action on the opioid crisis, including RNAO’s #DecriminalizeNow campaign.

This is a free webinar, open to all nurses and other health professionals.
